Why do physiotherapy and Pilates go so neatly together?

Physiotherapists are experts in the field of musculo-skeletal conditions and how to treat them, this, together with expert knowledge of the Pilates method, allows our team to offer a high standard of rehabilitation.

What conditions require physiotherapy and rehabilitative Pilates?

  • spinal and peripheral (all other joints) acute and chronic/ persistent pain
  • sports injuries
  • following spinal and peripheral joint surgeries
  • spinal pain after pregnancy
  • pelvic floor rehabilitation
  • postural re-education
  • neurological rehabilitation
  • pre and post natal

Why is PilatesClinic so unique?

Our physiotherapists and Pilates teachers work closely alongside each other. All of our physiotherapists are registered with the CSP and HPC and are trained Pilates instructors;  some of them have also obtained a Masters degree in physiotherapy.  Depending on whether you have an injury, and on its nature, you may see a Pilates instructor at one point during the week and the physiotherapist at another point. Some clients progress smoothly from physiotherapy to Pilates classes and may only see the physiotherapist as required.

Some clients require very close supervision and are recommended to book a one-to-one Pilates session with a Pilates instructor or a physiotherapist. For those clients who recover from an injury we offer a tailored Pilates rehabilitative exercise regime on an individual basis. Our goal is to progress each individual at his/her own pace.

Do I need a doctor's referral before treatment?

For privately paying patients, a doctor's referral is not necessary to book an appointment. If you are claiming through your health insurance, some insurance companies require a referral in order to reimburse the physiotherapy fees; we advise that you contact your insurance company prior to commencing treatment.

What shall I wear?

In order for the physiotherapist to perform a thorough assessment we recommend all clients to bring shorts that they can change into.

How long should I allow for a physiotherapy session?

Usually a physiotherapy initial consultation can take 30 to 45 minutes. We also offer longer physiotherapy sessions of 60 minutes. Depending on your injury and your needs you and your physiotherapist will decide on the right plan for you.
